Desperate Housewives Series 8 Premiere

Well Desperate Housewives is in its eighth and final series and its then end of an era for Desperate Housewives fans. Series seven ended with Carlos whacking Gabrielle’s evil step father Alejandro killing him instantly and in true Desperate Housewives style the four leading ladies and Carlos have to hide the body as the whole of the lane are coming over for a dinner party.
I found that Eva Longaria’s portrayed her characters fear of her step dad brilliantly and was nice to see her character vulnerability as she is usually such a head strong character.

Season eight begins with the four women and Carlos burying Alejandro body in a woods nearby and as they are about to bury him a mobile phone rings making the girls aware that someone will come looking for Alejandro. Nothing is ever simple in
Wisteria Lane
. Each of the girls make a pact not to tell anyone about this night, all for one and one for all and all that.

As we all know nothing in
Wisteria Lane
comes without problems; Susan gets questioned by Mike as they have only just moved back onto the lane and now she doesn’t seem to want to hang out with the girls. Trying to make people suspicious or what?

Carlos along with Susan seems to be the one having the most trouble with their roles in Alejandro’s death. He can’t sleep and is turning in to a bad husband and father as he shouted at Juanita (which in my opinion she could do with a few more telling offs).
Carlos decides to talk to a priest only to be told the only way to be forgiven for your sins is to confess your crime, which of course Carlos cannot do.

At the end of last series Lynette and Tom decided to separate and at the start of this series they are still separated but keeping it secret from their children. Lynette’s role in Alejandro death is getting too much for her and ends up seeking comfort in the arms of her husband only to crush his dreams when she tells him they aren’t getting back together. I do think that Lynette and Tom belong together and they seemed the strongest couple on the lane, hopefully they will be a permanent reconciliation but not before we get some eye candy on the street for Lynette to have a fling with.

Bree is also in a pickle as she is still dating Chuck the cop and even though she feels that having a cop around she will be the first to know if the police are getting wind of a missing man how long before Chuck starts getting suspicious. He has already picked up on the fact that the other girls have been funny with him since the dinner party.

The first episode also saw the appearance of new neighbour Ben Faulkner who is the new ‘hottie’ on the lane but caused shock as he didn’t succumb to Renee’s sexual advances. As we all know though Renee is used to getting what she wants so she won’t give up easily.

The first episode end after the girls have a fight when Susan wants to confess to Mike as it is affecting their marriage, during the fight ends with all the girls in the pool. It comes to the point where even Susan accepts that they have to keep this a secret at whatever costs.
After sorting that out the girls go home and Bree receives a letter saying ‘I KNOW WHAT YOU DID, IT MAKES ME SICK, I AM GOING TO TELL.’ Not only is a note threatening enough but it’s the same note that Mary Alice received in the pilot of the first series before she killed herself. Looks like we are going to have to wait and see how the plot thickens.
