Criminal Minds - Closing Time

Criminal Minds – Closing Time
(Series 7 – Episode 14)

This week’s episode opens on a beach where a group of high school leavers are having a beach party. A couple who are going to separate colleges are getting things heated under the lifeguard tower however it all comes to a stop when drops of blood drip onto the girls body. The boy goes to investigate and finds three dead bodies in the lifeguard tower, two of which are wrapped in plastic.
Erica Messer has given me what I wanted, Beth is back. We see Hotch and Beth competing against each other to get to their finish line during their training session when Beth tricks him and says she has hurt her leg before legging it straight past him. They agree to go out on a date after Beth puts him out of his misery of trying to ask her. I loved the lift scene between Rossi and Hotch when he is asking how the training is going but we all know he’s asking about if he has asked her out yet and when he admits they have a date on Friday, Rossi says that he will do all he can to make sure they are back on Friday.
Garcia is giving the team the details about the case and the victims has had their genitals removed post mortem leaving the team to wonder if the unsub is keeping them as a trophy or trying to hide the evidence of a sexual assault.
We then see the unsub is at a basketball court and a teenage kid goes over to him and tells him that he will get in trouble if they are seen together, the unsub clearly has a bad relationship with his son.
One of the victims Sean Taylor was gay so the team wonder if that is part of the unsub's motives. Another victim Joseph Kraus has been found in another lifeguard tower and they also discover that both victims cars are missing.
We find out that the unsub’s name is Mike and he is having a confrontation with a guy at a car lot place and he says he ruined his life and he should go kill himself. Mike then get a new victim called Gus Harrington whilst the team discover that he is hunting at the beach not taking the victims there.

Rossi and Reid are at the hotel room where Gus was staying, bottle strewn all over the place so he went out to get more booze. The unsub selects his victims quickly, befriends them then kills them. They wonder if the unsub is committing merciful killings, he’s doing his victims a favour because their life is crap.
Mike then visits his ex wife where she tells him he is not wanted and Hunter doesn’t want to see him either, at this point we see the guy from the car place come out of the house. Has he taken over Mike’s place in the family home?
The team discover that none of the victims purchased any alcohol so this means they had to have been served it meaning that the unsub is a barmen. After all they listen to the problems of punters whilst serving them alcohol. We then see Mike with another possible victim who is drowning his sorrows and he admits to the guy that his wife and best friend moved in with each other, he is hunting for victims with broken hearts. A woman then comes to the bar that intrigues him more, she admits that her husband has left her, Mike says that the only reason to break up a marriage is if someone has cheated, the way the girl looks suggests that she has cheated on her husband. Mike picks up on this and when the guy tries to order another drink he tells him he’s had enough.

The team are then at the crime scene where the girl from the bar, known as Kelsey Ashwood has been hacked and disposed in the bin, she had been cut up whilst she was still alive. This murder was angrier making it clear that she had committed a bigger sin.
Mike is then at the car place crushing a car, trying to get rid of the evidence when the guy we find out is called Doug Summers asks what he is doing as he doesn’t work there anymore. After some angry words Mike pushes Doug over the barrier and Doug panics as he couldn’t move and thinks he has broken his back, Mike then uses the machine to pick up the car and drops it on Doug. If that wasn’t bad enough he then presses a button which crushes the car and Doug.
JJ is talking to Kelsey’s husband and after some time he admits that Kelsey had cheated on him, only once but he couldn’t move on from it. All the victims relationships ended due to infidelity. Hotch is at the latest crime scene and says the unsub wanted Doug to suffer. When they visit his ex wife Andrea and finds out that Andrea and Doug were engaged and they found out that Doug is Hunter’s biological father. They found out two months ago which was before the killings started and the stressor for Mike. We then see Mike take Hunter from school.

Mike takes Hunter to the bar and tells him they have to go, when Hunter wants to call his Mum he says that she is not part of their life anymore. Hunter asks what he has done and he admits that Doug is dead and that he didn’t mean to. Hunter is really upset and yells at him that ‘you killed my father.’ As he goes to get by Mike hits him with the gun and says ‘I am your father.’
JJ and Morgan are searching the bar, it’s JJ that finds them in the basement Mike has tied Hunter to the chair and is pointing a gun to him. Hunter tells him what Mike wants to hear in the hope that he will give JJ the gun. When she gets the chance JJ runs at Mike and they have a scrap. It was great to see JJ kick some ass. During the fight Hunter picks up the gun and points it at Mike, its Derek that talks the boy out of it.
After Mike is arrested Reid is worried and asks how JJ is in which she replies ‘I’m fine, it’s just a scratch.’ In true Reid style he comes out with ‘you have two cuts, three bruises, a black eye and a possible fractured rib.’ He then asks the paramedic to suggest counselling for JJ. You have got to love the relationship between these two.
Back at Quantico Derek admits that he is never making JJ angry again and she says she hopes her coach is proud of her which Derek admits he’s really proud and just glad it came in handy. I’m sure I am not the only one who would like to do some combat sessions with Derek.
We then see Hotch doing some late night paperwork as usual when Morgan comes in and says that its Valentine’s Day but not to worry because he forgot too and he invited him to the bar where all the singles are going. Hotch politely declines and goes to pick up Beth with a bunch of flowers; she kisses him to get their first kiss out of the way.
I love that Hotch is taking a step forward and started dating again and cannot wait to see how their relationship plays out.
Roll on next week’s episode.

Criminal Mins - Snake Eyes

 Criminal Minds – Snakes Eyes
(Series 7 – Episode 13)

The episode started full of action showing the unsub’s first kill, the unsub was no other then Dean Cain more famously known as Superman and it was nice to se him take on a different role; the bad guy instead of the hero. He then leaves the hotel room and enters the casino, keeping an eye on the security guard. Panicking he shoves a dollar into a machine and wins the jackpot drawing attention to himself, it made me wonder how he managed to get away with not being caught with blood on his hands.

Garcia is woken up by JJ ringing her up on a Sunday morning to come down to the office, clearly she has had too much to drink the night before, having one too many bottles of wine after a fight with Kevin. She ends the conversation by hanging up the phone as she hears Kevin in the shower; she needs to make up with him before heading to the office. As she stumbles through her room she is distracted by a knock at the door and there Kevin is stood with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers looking apologetic, Garcia is in a state of shock, if Kevin stormed out and was now at the front door but is in the shower. Enter my favourite scene of the series Agent Derek Morgan fresh out of the shower in nothing but a towel. OMG! I nearly died and I’m sure he set a lot of your pulses racing too. Garcia rushes out flustered wondering if she overstepped her friendship boundaries with Derek. Once at the FBI headquarters the team are overlooking a case, Garcia rushes in and speaks to JJ   dismissive of Derek who looks confused as he doesn’t know what her problem is.
It then shows the unsub on a winning streak and even catching the eye of a beautiful woman, life couldn’t be any better for him now. He even wants to win enough money to get in to this exclusive poker game that costs $50.000 to play, serious gambling.
Prentiss and Reid are at the first crime scene and know the unsub must have snuck in straight after Danny Solveno as the hotel door had an electric strike lock which are extremely difficult to break in to. When questioned about the security tape the guy tells them that the disc was swiped and Danny had refused the standard hotel security so what was he hiding?
During this time Rossi and JJ have made contact with a local thug that they are aware have helped the FBI out with their investigations before at first he says he has retired so they are on their own but when they mention that Danny Solveno is dead and they just want him to come out of retirement long enough to get some information on Danny he agrees, after all he is dead.
Things are going really well for are unsub he’s won more money so what could possibly go wrong, his wife turning up. Angry at the fact that he has started gambling again and fed up of his excuses she announces that she wants a divorce and she will be staying with her sister. She also wants him to stay away from her after scaring her when he grabbed her arm in anger.
The team have found out that Danny Solveno had supplemented money and loaned the money to casino patrons, this is why he didn’t have the hotels standard security, he didn’t want his bosses to find out he was freelancing.
Our unsub is now on a losing streak since his confrontation with this wife and follows the woman who came over to him the night before in to a secluded car park, he tries to convince her that his losing streak is over which the woman says ‘we both turned up empty tonight’ confirming to us that she is an escort. The escort is dismissive to ithe unsub’s advances and laughs at his dream so he angrily slams her head and kills her.

The team are at the crime scene with the murdered escort and Derek says that she couldn’t have been afraid of the killer as she had had her fag lit but yet he couldn’t find any matches or a lighter around.
We then see the unsub trying his luck at the casino table with his friend who is telling him that his wife was never any good for him she always held him back and he always lost whenever he has had an argument with her. He then says its weird that the Circle of Eight killer has killed to people that he knows before showing him a picture of a really expensive watch that he carries around with him because when he wins big that is the first thing he will buy with his winnings. During this conversation the unsub is aimlessly placing bets and ends up winning, has killing the escort giving him his winning streak back?
The team have worked out that the number 8 is a ritual aspect in the unsubs killings and high form of obsessive compulsive disorder and while they are working out this the unsub has gone and bought himself a handheld gun, who is his next victim going to be? It turns out to be a random killing of a cashier who is working in a garage after all he just needs to kill someone to keep his winning streak up right? However this time is doesn’t work that way as he watches his money vanish after each bet looks like he needs to find another person to kill. On a mission he begins to walk out of the casino but then stops when he sees the watch his friend was on about. We then see the pair of them walking down an alley when the unsub gives him the friends the watch just before shooting him from behind.

The team are at the third crimes scene the number 8 is still a fixture in the killing although the unsub has been more generous by leaving $88 around the body and not robbing anything. Prentiss makes an assumption that the unsub may have known the victim as he was shot from behind, unlike any of the other victims, he didn’t want to be seen as a killer.  It is then that they get a call about another killing of a guest in a room and he has stolen $50.000 but has left $20.000 with the body. Using the power of Garcia and computer geniusy they find out about the major poker tournament.
Back at the headquarters Hotch tells  the team that the FBI wont give them the emergency fund which Rossi can understand, who would give the FBI $50.000 to play poker. It is now that Prentiss suggests that he could loan them the money, after all he is a best selling author. Rossi isn’t keen on the idea as he prefers to spend his money on the finer things in life like cigars, fine wine and art not on a game. I love the banter between Rossi and Reid when trying to convince Rossi he says ‘at your age it would be nice to try something different’ to which he replies ‘at my what?’ Rossi finally agrees to put the money up but isn’t confident that he would be able to stay in the game long enough to figure out who the unsub is however Reid would. Rossi then goes on a  rant which is one of the rants I love saying that poker wasn’t about mathematics and he wasn’t go to trust someone else with his money, during his rant Reid is proving that poker does have a mathematical element to it. You just got to love Reid.
Reid is then undercover at the poker game and asks to swap table as the lighting is know good for his glaucoma, he has spotted the circle of 8 killer and all because he has a keyring with a number eight ball on.
We then get to see more of the Garcia and Morgan drama, when he is on the phone and she has given him some information in record time Derek says that ‘you have always been fast baby girl’ to which Garcia replies she has to go leaving Derek wondering what the hell is going on with her.
Back at the poker game Reid is trying to rile the unsub he then reaches for the keyring to which the unsub freaks out and when the security guard comes over accuses Reid of trying to steal his chips. As the security guard escorts Reid out the unsub makes a run for it.

With the unsub managing to get away from the team, Garcia helps them by sharing that his name is Curtis Banks and his father was a severe gambler and the victim they found in the alley earlier that day was his best friend. It is then the Rossi works out that he is going for someone he is really close to, the only one of the victims he didn’t have a personal connection with was the garage cashier and he needs to kill someone he is close to for his system to work.
Curtis has found his wife at her sisters house and is holding them at gun point all he wanted was to make his wife happy and she decided to leave him, she says that they could start again, make a fresh start but Curtis sees straight through her.
Rossi is the one that decides to go into the house unarmed and explains that he understands him and that he didn’t mean to kill these people he just accidentally stumbled into it and doesn’t know how to stop it. Curtis decides to let the sister go but is keeping a tight grasp on his wife, she never had faith in him. JJ is trying to get and angle on Curtis as he makes his way in to the room, she asks Rossi why he keeps looking to the left of him, the only thing that is there is the clock and it is almost eight o’clock another connection to the number eight and that is the reason Curtis asked for more time. The team make a move knowing that when the clock strikes eight all of this is going to end. Curtis decides to let his wife go and then shoots himself as the clock strikes eight.
When the team are back at Quantico Derek decides to confront Garcia on her weird behaviour with him, everytime he calls he gets her voicemail and if on the of f chance he gets to speak to her he doesn’t get any sassyness from her. Garcia embarrassingly questions why he was in her shower at 7am which he bluntly replies because that’s what time he showers. When Derek clicks on that she thinks they slept together he laughs and explains that she invited him over, had too much wine, they watched a DVD with popcorn and he slept on the couch. Garcia hugs him with relief and Derek says that she has got a great guy in Kevin and when she asks what is a girl suppose to do when she had two great guys in her life which he smiles and replies not to pour that extra glass of wine.

I loved that they made Garcia question her friendsip boundaries with Morgan as when people are as close as those two why wouldn’t anything happen? But more importantly I am glad they didn’t allow anything more to happen between the two of them. Their relationship is perfect just the way it is.
All we need now is for the return of the girl Hotch met on the bike ride and I will be a happy girl and maybe some more shower scenes from Morgan J

Olly Murs - Sheffield Arena

Olly Murs
In Case You Didn’t Know Tour

Olly Murs was gracing Sheffield with his presence on Sunday night (12.2.12) and he didn’t disappoint.

Firstly we had to sit through the support acts and with all honesty this is the part I usually hate as they never seem to grasp my attention and I’m just wishing the time away until the act I have paid to see makes an appearance. However Lillygreen and Maguire have restored my faith in support acts. The songs they performed, even though I hadn’t heard before seemed to be catchy and after the first chorus I was singing along. I also really liked the mash up they did off well known songs because you could definitely sing along. Not only did they warm the crowd up with their talent they also had amazing banter with the crowd. As I watched them it wasn’t like watching a support act, it was like watching a duo that is born to do this. I hope to hear more from Lillygreen and Maguire and I suggest you check them out on Twitter. (https://twitter.com/#!/lilygandmaguire)

The tension began to rise after Olly’s second support act The Lonsdale Boys Club had finished. It is the first time that I have been amazed at how quickly it was time for the main act himself to come on stage.
The lights went down and lit up a range of people on saxophone, percussion, keyboards, strings and personally my two favourites the two back up singers that for the life of me I can’t remember there names, all I do know is that they were a pleasure to watch and really put a smile on my face.
Olly Murs was magnificently lit up at the back of the stage and as the beat to Anywhere Else started Olly emerged from the stage floor – a great entrance. I loved the addition of We Will Rock You during his second song of Change Is Gonna Come; I actually heard the song whilst I was waiting for the doors to open, so it was nice to know I wasn’t hearing things.
An embarrassing moment for Olly occurred when he split his trousers busting some moves on his little catwalk giving the front row an eye full, although judging by the response no on seemed to mind.
Olly kept coming with the surprises after his first costume change the music started and he started to sing but no one could see him on the stage. He then emerged from the crowd sending the audience in to frenzy. This is something I wasn’t expecting as the only acts I’ve known to do it have done a fair few arena tours before they decide to brave us animals.
Special guests included the one and only Miss Piggy and Animal for The Muppets who helped with his performance of Dance With Me Tonight. Clearly Olly and Miss Piggy really clicked during his stint on the Xtra Factor.
He really worked the crowd and stage making sure everyone got to see him up close and personal, even going in to the middle of the crowd by walking over a ladder that came down and left him in the middle of the arena, leaving the audience to wonder how he would make his way back. Not one to disappoint or leave anyone out he made his way to the stage walking through the crowd at the other side. According to Olly they were the craziest side, he nearly didn’t make it with his clothes on, and again I don’t think any of us would have had any complaints.
Of course a tour wouldn’t be the same without a medley and I loved his James Brown medley it really got me moving and even the little kids enjoyed it.
All good things must come to an end and the best song he could have finished on was of course My Heart Skips A Beat, which is also nominated for a Brit for Best British Single. Olly told the crowd that he will be here for as long as we are here and with that I say Mr Olly Murs is going to be around for a very long time and I will wait patiently for album after album and tour after tour.
Well done Olly, you have done yourself and your fans extremely proud.

Criminal Minds - Uknown Subject

Criminal Minds – Unknown Subject
(Series 7 – episode 12)

I’ve been looking forward to this weeks episode, not only because it is the 150th episode but because of how great the information on the episode sounded. What would be more terrifying then being re-victimised by someone who has already raped you?

The episodes opens with a woman home alone and pouring herself a glass of wine and lighting a cigarette only to quickly panic and down a glass of water with a load of salt in to make her vomit, this showed that the woman was already prepared for if her drink was drugged again. At that moment the unsub is stood at the glassed back door, his face covered with a mask, which I believe to be scarier then if he was stood there unmasked. As he smashes his way in he calmly walks over to the TV to put some music on whilst the woman cowers behind the breakfast bar, I did wonder why she didn’t grab the knifes on the top or run but then thought maybe she didn’t get all the drug out of her system
We then see Prentiss in session with her counsellor and it seems that she is in profiler mode and saying that everything fine, she feels great and she hasn’t had a nightmare for two weeks. The counsellor then gives her something to think about when she says she hasn’t had time to mourn her own death, her colleagues got to bury her and mourn, and she did not.
The team are then taking the jet to search for ‘The Piano Man’ a rapist that is re-attacking his previous victims. It is only Hotch and Prentiss on the jet to start with as Hotch wants to discuss Prentiss’s counselling progress away from the prying eyes through his office window. He thinks that she has been overcompensating because of her guilt and he knows this because she rushed to get her relationship with Morgan back on track. Even though the counsellor has said she is healthy for the line of duty but he knows that she has lied to her counsellor as the report says that she has reached out to her mother (which she hasn’t) and she has a new man in her life called Sergio (which as we all know is her pet cat.) The only thing Hotch wants Prentiss to do is to tell him when she is having a bad day, be it today, a week or a few months from now.
The team have tried getting in touch with ‘The Piano Man’s’ previous victims but not many turned up until the press released the story and turned out a few had been re-attacked. The lack of women coming forward isn’t a surprise to the team as Reid points out that 83% of rape victims don’t report when they have been raped the first time let alone the second.
Speaking to the victims helped the team work out that he was drugging his victims through cigarettes not through drink, which explains why Vanessa’s stomach content found no traces of the drug. They also found out that he played a different piano themed song for each victim over and over again which after the attack they react to the song oddly without knowing why. One of the victims, Diane seems reluctant to speak to the team which shows that she is hiding something she remembers but says that during the second attack he told her that ‘no one believes a slut who cried wolf twice.’
We then see a waitress which turn out to be another victim when she reacts badly to a man playing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ on the piano, she then gets really drunk and stumbles into the car park with him and seems very flirty but as she searches for a lighter she pulls out a stun gun and attacks the man. Has she got the right man?

We then see the guy that the waitress attacked strung up like a puppet with piano string and sat at a piano. It’s clear that the girl has had an emotional breakdown since her attack five years ago and it obsessed with getting revenge. The guy is trying to convince her that he wasn’t playing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ by playing that song and a different one but she is convinced that he is playing the same song, she is only hearing what she wants to hear. In a desperate attempt to convince her she has got the wrong man he sings the two songs which only adds fuel to the fire and convinces her even more that he is the guy who raped her as he also sung the song during the ordeal. She was his first victim so he didn’t drug her properly and she kept coming too. In an attempt to put him through some of the pain he put her through she shoots his hand.
I loved the banter between Hotch and Garcia when she is searching for the unsub, after she came up with nothing the first time and then she decided to get in to the mind of Hotch, what would Hotch do? A classic Garcia moment that we all love and of course she has something for the team to chase. The possible unsub runs as the FBI barges in and we get to see one of my favourite people Agent Derek Morgan powerfully arm block the guy to the ground. POW!
Vanessa’s body has then been disposed and the unsub hasn’t tried to hide it, there was no signs of any sexual activity, why hasn’t he raped her? Hotch’s theory is that he wanted to stay hidden and she came round so he had to kill her, my idea was that maybe he was suffering from impotence and to get his thrill he had to kill Vanessa instead of raping her.
Diane then comes forward and tells Prentiss that she kept coming round and he kept talking to her, the reason why she wasn’t as drugged up as the other girls is because she has been a life longed smoker and knew it tasted funny so crushed it up. She had inhaled enough to drug her initially just not enough to keep her unconscious.

Afterwards we go back to the house where the waitress is keeping the guy captive at this point confusion creeps in for me as the guy says that he never did anything to her that she didn’t want. Has she captured the ‘Piano Man’ after all? He then changes and says she has gotten him mixed up with someone else just like the way she kept mixing up the songs. He then reveals that they have met before but not the way she thinks. He used to play in a bar where she would be with a different guy each week and she picked him up one night and went back to his place and showed him her scars and never saw him again. He always wondered what she was up to and now he knows since she branded him with the same scars.
During the interrogation with the guy they arrested he says ‘nobody believes a slut who cries wolf twice’ making Diane burst in tears as she it was something she wasn’t sure of.
JJ, Morgan and Reid are going over Scobey’s (arrested guy) apartment and going through his CD’s, come to the conclusion that he is too young to be the original ‘Piano Man’ however he did attack Diane. So he is just a clever copycat that the real Piano Man is trying to frame for all his attacks and the murder of Vanessa all in order to stay hidden.
After speaking to Scobey again he admits that he found the victim through reading their hospital records and he was going to go for Vanessa next but the Piano Man had already beat him to it. The team get an address when he says his victim after that was going to be Regina (the waitress). Is the Piano man the guy that Regina is holding captive or is he watching somewhere near by? We see Regina try to calm herself down in the kitchen as the guy we now know as Hemilton trying to free himself from the piano wires which he successfully does as Regina head back into the room with the gun.

Regina notices the snapped wire but Hemilton struggles with her and runs when he has knocked her into the wall. As she nervously tries to find him he makes a 911 call, would the Piano Man do that but for me as he was making the call he had a sadistic smile on his face.
The team barge in just as Regina is pointing a gun to his head. Prentiss tell her that he is not the guy as the print originally found on her glasses does not match his prints and if she shoots him she will be shooting an innocent man. As she breaks down Hotch goes to Hemilton and asks if he is alright and can walk but as he gets him outside he arrests him for the attacks.
Regina wants to give her statement to Prentiss and demands to know why she didn’t let her shoot him which Prentiss replies that she would then be in jail and what life would that be? It’s then that Regina notice that Prentiss has a monster of her own in which Prentiss reveals that he is dead but she didn’t pull the trigger. Regina’s statement is ‘Your monster is dead, mine isn’t.’ It just shows that the Piano Man being behind bars doesn’t make a difference to her; he will still be a monster for as long as he lives.
This episode ends with another nice moment from Hotch and Prentiss on the jet, she admits that she is having a bad day, keeping her promise to Hotch and in return she receives an encouraging smile.

Overall this has had to be one of my favourite episodes, it kept me guessing right until the very end whether or not Regina had the Piano Man and I loved how you saw two sides of Hemilton, the desperate guy who is innocent and being held captive and then bits of the Piano Man coming out i.e. ‘I never did anything you didn’t want.’ The only thing I had against this episode is that we didn’t get to see a lot of Rossi but then there was that much going off where would they have fitted everything in.
Criminal Minds never seems to disappoint, roll on the 200th episode.

Gok's Teens - The Naked Truth

Gok’s Teens – The Naked Truth

Last night was the premiere of Gok Wan’s new channel 4 programme Gok’s Teens – The Naked Truth. The programme follows the problems that teenagers go through be it weight issues, bullying, and sexuality. I have always been a fan of Gok’s TV shows and after watching this it blew me away.
The fact that some teenagers spend ridiculous amounts of time looking at images dubbed at the ‘perfect’ body and inspire to be like them is shocking s most of the mages scream unhealthy. I believe that Gok was the perfect person to be part of this show, struggling with weight and anorexia himself shows people that you can stop and things can be better.
It is absolutely shocking that girls at the age of twelve are starting to take drastic actions to ‘improve’ their body and especially when a primary school teacher said that children as young as six aren’t happy with the way they look.
Being a teenager is the worst part of growing up, you are having trouble find yourself let alone people judging you and making you feel that you are not worth or that you are a ‘freak’, this programme goes to show that you are not on your own. Millions of teenagers are going through a variety of problems and just need someone to talk to. I for one would have loved something like this being on TV when I was going through my teenage years.
I am all for Gok’s body confidence classes being made mandatory in schools and hopefully will stop the younger generation putting themselves down. I also believe that magazines should keep photo editing down to a minimum, it is one thing making a spot disappear but after seeing how much editing was done on the model photo shoot is ridiculous, why did they need to change so much on her?
I believe all the challenges that Gok set the teens were perfect and really effective; I couldn’t help shed a few tears when the girl who was getting over anorexia had her story read out to her.
I am looking forward to next week episode especially about the girl who is being bullied, on  clip it showed her saying that she is fine until she gets to the school gates and then she starts to panic. I know that feeling all too well and cannot wait to see how Gok helps her to overcome her fears. If only he was at my school when I was there.
All the teens deserve a huge congratulations and a pat on the back for being so brave to not only share there story but let others see it and last but not least a huge congratulations to the one and only Gok Wan who is such an inspiration and without him would not be possible.
Well done Gok, you are truly amazing.

Criminal Minds - True Genius

Criminal Minds – True Genius
Series 7 – Episode 11

Criminal Minds finally returned to our UK screens last night (3rd of February) from its Christmas break. I was on countdown all week due to severe withdrawal symptoms over the Christmas period and I was not disappointed.
The episode started with a couple parked up in a secluded area (will people ever learn?) It then skips and shows Prentiss and Reid at a seminar where Patricia Cornwell is a guest speaker and shows Reid give his own speech. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him when the audience weren’t interacting with him but maybe that is just my love for him and wanting to give him a big hug.

Reid seemed to be disheartened after the speech when seeing Prentiss confidently speaking to people but then a senior stops him giving him the boost he needs in which Reid offers him the FBI internship (how we all would love that offer) after seeing a lot of himself in this boy. However he was shocked to find out that this senior had his own company as he was the founder of Nanavax which was going to be a multi million product. It here that we first see that something is bothering Reid.

This episode is focused on the possible return of the Zodiac killer even though this killer would now be in his sixties the similarities in the MO and crime scenes are uncanny but how could someone in their sixties still do this? I did wonder if it would revisit the idea they had with the Butcher – father/son team especially when it showed the two men playing chess, one who was significantly older then the other but thankfully they had another surprise in store for us.

When Hotch and JJ visited the crime scene it showed that the crime scene was identically to the one the Zodiac had done years before but the Reid came in claiming that it wasn’t the real Zodiac with no other evidence but a feeling. Got to love Reid and deep down you know he is right.

We then go to Morgan and Rossi going to visit the Sergeant that was on the original Zodiac case who is extremely ill and bed ridden with Parkinson’s. He use to have plenty of visits from people who was obsessed with the Zodiac, this summing up to a huge list of suspects when they find photos that had been taken at the old crime scene and places at the recent one in the Sergeants old files.

Another amazing Reid triumph came when he leads a man speaking to a press into a false security when he claims that his cousin could be the one doing all the killings and after Reid takes charge and says ‘The FBI would greatly appreciate it if people would stop making false claims in order to get their fifteen minutes of fame’

We then get to see the unsub Caleb again at his best friends pre wedding party Harvey who decides to make his own speech after the best man has made him. During his speech we get the sense that Harvey is uncomfortable during this speech, what is it that he doesn’t want his fiancée to know. It then becomes clear that Caleb has got feelings for Marissa as he says they both had a crush on her, it seems even though they are friends they have always been rivals as they met during a chess tournament. When Caleb said ‘Your soul mate stands before you’ made me think he was telling Marissa look at me, here I am. You then see Harvey not really wanting to have a whole weekend with Caleb when he is surprised with a stag weekend to Vegas but he agrees to go after Marissa tells him too. What happened between Caleb and Harvey?

We then get to see the genius that is Spencer Reid at his best when he works out a secret code that sends then to a location where they can wait for the unsub, this turns out to be a trap when they only catch someone delivery a message for Reid which reads ‘You’re not as smart as you think you are.’ In the meantime the unsub has led them onto a wild goose chase while he was killing another couple in a different location.

The profile was then given with someone that is about to lose the object of obsession forcing him to kill in such a small space of time, we know this to be true as Marissa is about to marry Caleb. We see more of Caleb’s obsession when he meets Marissa at a restaurant assuming that she is wanting to call off the wedding and then he dismisses the idea of her surprise saying that Harvey would hate it and how much did she really know about him. This making us more intrigued to his past.

We then see Reid in a café over going the online paper printouts and also seeming a little off it. He then admits to Prentiss that he doesn’t feel like he has lived up to his own expectations and not knowing why he is in the FBI. I thought this scene was really nice and it showed the chemistry that Reid and Prentiss had for the first time since she returned from the dead. I loved the reverse psychology and how antsy he got when Prentiss took over the online paper printouts which then actually gave him the answer he had been looking for. We also found out that Reid turned thirty which the rest of the team had forgot which made me think that maybe Reid’s doubts about his life choices are more to do with him getting older.
It showed Reid a code in which the unsub places an add in the paper using codes which then shows the team that not only the writes is smart but to whom it was written for had to have an IQ of 160.

Another killing involving a taxi appeared and showed the driver had been shot and Morgan noticed a void in the blood spatter pattern which Rossi tells us that there had been a passenger, but where was the passenger now? Also souvenir photography of a young boy was left.

We then see Caleb and Harvey set off on their road trip only for Caleb to change his mind and take him to the first crime scene if the killings, even though Harvey is a little resistant at first we find out that they were both obsessed with catching the Zodiac killer when they were younger. Harvey then discussed how the Zodiac would have killed the couple in great detail and he does this at every crime scene that Caleb takes him to, not once does Harvey question anything.
During this time Reid has worked out the coordinates of the crime mirrors a chess board which leads them to the final place where in chess the opponent would have been check mated or lost his queen. We then know that Caleb is holding Marissa somewhere and it was time to finish the game.

It then a race to get to the two friends and Marissa. We find out that when they were fifteen they killed a boy something that Harvey won’t take responsibility for and what he kept secret from Marissa. It is now clear that it wasn’t Marissa that was the object of his obsession it was Harvey and how they used to be. Harvey soon passes on blame when Reid interrupts them and Harvey agrees with Reid to try and get away from him. Harvey doesn’t like the home truths when Caleb tells him about how he enjoyed the killing of Robbie Shaw even though he only chose him and Harvey changes and says that they are in it together when it looks like he will get in to trouble. After finding out about Harvey’s transfer Caleb tells Reid that the body is buried in Harvey’s back yard before discarding the gun and giving himself up.

The ending really put a smile on my face and I was happy when Reid mentioned Gideon it’s nice that he hasn’t been forgotten. I loved how happy Reid was with his surprise party and it showed how much of a family the team really are and it’s a family that I am sure each and every one of us wished we were a part of.

All in all the episode stood up to my high expectations and I am happy that Derick Morgan along with the rest of the team is gracing my TV every Friday night. The only thing I am hoping for with the rest of the series is to get to the bottom of Reid’s headaches which came up in series 6 and maybe a few episodes where we don’t see the unsub until the team catch the unsub.
More Criminal Minds next week where the team search for a serial rapist known as ‘The Piano Man’ returns and is attacking his previous victims. It is also the 150th episode. I’m looking forward to watching this episode and writing a blog about it too. =] xxx
